Liz Lynne, Liberal Democrat MEP for the West Midlands, today welcomed the results of the survey 'Lifting the Barriers to Growth in Small Businesses', which was conducted by Strathclyde University for the Federation of Small Businesses.
Said Liz "The results of this survey are very good news. Despite all the problems that have beset business in the West Midlands in the last twelve months, optimism is high and businesses are planning to grow.
"The survey showed there is a need for export training and information. This proves that small businesses are reaching out and expanding. Clearly the business world of the West Midlands is professional and motivated.
"I hope the Federation of Small Businesses will continue to work closely with us in our fight against red tape and over-legislation from both Whitehall and Brussels."
The survey is the second of its kind, following "Barriers to Growth and Survival" in 2000. The response rate was 14% nationally and slightly higher in the West Midlands.
