West Midlands Liberal Democrat MEP Liz Lynne has sent a goodwill message to demonstrators speaking out against George Bush in London today.
Liz said:
"Those of us who attended the historic anti-war demonstration on 15 February will remember that day for the rest of our lives, so I was sorely tempted to go to London to take part today. Unfortunately, my parliamentary duties in Strasbourg must come first, but I wish those intending to protest peacefully the best of luck and good weather. Most importantly, I hope that President Bush will hear their call.
"Since the war in Iraq, the world is no safer while the Iraqis themselves face years of instability and uncertainty. Indeed George Bush and his ally Tony Blair seem to be desperate to wriggle out of their responsibilities now that the pressure has mounted.
"For a US President to inspire such fury among the British people is unprecedented. I hope the American public will sit up and take note at what a disservice President Bush is doing to their international standing and exercise their vote accordingly next year."
