West Midlands MEP Liz Lynne visited Worcestershire ME Support Group Open Day in Worcester on Wednesday 12th May.
Liz visited the support group to mark International ME Awareness Day. She supports many ME groups throughout the West Midlands and will be meeting members of Worcestershire M.E. Support Group, to find out about their work supporting sufferers of M.E., C.F.S. (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and F.M.S. (Fibromyalgia).
Speaking following the visit the Liberal Democrat European Election Candidate said:
"ME is a severe disabling condition and is still not taken as seriously as it should be. It is estimated that more than 240,000 people across the UK have this illness and it affects everyone regardless of age or social class.
"I have worked with M.E. support groups across the West Midlands and know how valuable they are to people who suffer from M.E. It is important for sufferers to be able to know others are going through the same situation and find out how others cope.
"There is still a lot of ignorance surrounding this illness and I hope that International ME Awareness Day will mean more people are better informed and the stigma is removed."
