West Midlands MEP Liz Lynne is continuing to back Lib Dem leadership contender Chris Huhne, as Euro MPs prepare to grill one of his rivals this Thursday.
Menzies Campbell will be the first candidate to face Lib Dem members and politicians in Brussels, with Chris Huhne, a former MEP, expected to follow.
Speaking ahead of the Thursday meeting, Liz Lynne said:
"I have no doubt that all three candidates are strong contenders, and I look forward to hearing what Ming has to say. But knowing Chris personally from his time as an MEP, I believe he is the strongest candidate."
"Chris may be a new MP, but he has been active in politics for 25 years. He has had not one but two successful careers outside the Westminster bubble, as a financial journalist and city economist. He has proven leadership ability, coupled with strong environmental credentials and an ingrained sense of social justice."
"Above all Chris will be a strong unifying candidate, and I have no doubt he has the energy, passion and commitment to lead the party to further success."
