Liz Lynne meeting concerned residents outside Walsall Manor Hospital
Liz Lynne, Lib Dem MEP for the West Midlands, has backed the campaign supporting the redevelopment of Walsall Manor Hospital.
The £160 million redevelopment of the hospital, which was due to start in December, has been postponed indefinitely because of changes in the NHS price lists. Local councillors and residents are now lobbying the Government to press for the project to go ahead.
Liz Lynne visited the hospital on Saturday, and met with residents and local councillors to discuss the redevelopment plan.
Speaking after the visit, Liz Lynne said:
"It's clear from my visit today and from meeting with local residents that Walsall Manor Hospital will benefit from the redevelopment plan, which will replace aging buildings and expand the services provided."
"I am pleased to lend my support to the hospital, and when Patricia Hewitt meets MPs on May 3rd, I urge her to give the redevelopment plan the green light."
