Liz Lynne MEP, Vice-President of the European Parliament's All Party Disability Intergroup, visited the Honeycomb Centre yesterday as she travelled round Staffordshire looking at examples of best practice.

Visiting the Langnor-based organisation on Wednesday, 2nd August, Liz, Lib Dem MEP for the West Midlands region, said:

"This is an excellent example of local people working together to meet local needs.

"The Honeycomb Centre is important as it provides a crucial link for young people with learning difficulties between education and employment.

"This is a local initiative but where I can help is by encouraging networking between groups like this and their sister-groups throughout Europe.

"Creating links helps these groups and projects to share good ideas and best practice but it could also makes it easier to access European funding in the future."

Editor's Notes

The Honeycomb centre is a not-for-profit business linked with Leek College and is a work development centre for people with educational disabilities producing garden furniture and craft goods.
