Liz Lynne MEP with the delegation from the Sandwell Confederation of Indians
Liz Lynne, Lib Dem MEP for the West Midlands, this week welcomed a delegation from the Confederation of Sandwell Indians to Brussels after they accepted her invitation to visit the European Parliament.
Speaking after the event Liz said:
"Having met with the Confederation in Sandwell in July to discuss the group's concerns, I was very keen to invite them over to Brussels to show them the European Parliament and to explain to them more about how the EU works.
"I hope that by coming over to Brussels, the members from the Confederation get a clearer idea of how the European Parliament works and the work that I do to represent the people of the West Midlands."
Commenting on the Group Liz said;
"The Confederation of Sandwell Indians is a positive and community-minded group, organising this trip has shown it pursues a broad range of activities and is in touch with the concerns and interests of its members."
Editor's Notes
The Sandwell Confederation of Indians is an umbrella organisation that works for the needs of the Indian population of the West Midlands, and in particular Sandwell. They look at all aspects of the community's needs including health, education and environment.
In July, Liz met with members from the confederation at the Hindu Cultural Resource Centre in Sandwell which is a charitable, non-political organisation affiliated with the confederation.
