Staffordshire Lib Dem MEP Liz Lynne has praised the county's police force after it was named as one of the best forces in the country by an independent Government inspection.
Speaking from Strasbourg, Euro-MP Liz said:
"I am sure I speak on behalf of all the people of the county when I say congratulations to Staffordshire Police and thank them for all the excellent work they are doing to make the county a safe place to live.
"By creating closer links with local neighbourhoods and investing in its staff, they have made themselves one of the best forces in the country and it is great that this achievement has been recognised
"They are doing a tough job but they are meeting the challenges they face and Staffordshire is safer because of their efforts.

The Home Office published its national 'Police Performance Assessments 2005/06' today. This followed a detailed examination of the force by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) and the Police Standards Unit (PSU) earlier this year.
