A healthy diet and helping the environment might not be at the top of everyone's priority list in the run up to Christmas but there is a surprisingly conventional way to achieve both this year according to a local Euro MP.
Liz Lynne, MEP for the West Midlands region, is supporting a campaign which aims to provide consumers with all they need to know about their Christmas turkey including how to support local farmers by buying locally.
Commenting today, Liz said:
"This is a great way to show us all that being green and healthy need not be a painful experience.
"If local people put in a little research they can get great local produce which has been well bred and not shipped thousands of miles from somewhere where farming standards may not be as good as in this country.
"The UK Turkey and QBT - Quality British Turkey - logos guarantee high quality and low food miles and as such a low carbon footprint.
"As for eating healthily, now all you have to do is watch those cakes and other treats - and of course the quantity on your plate!"
